"Ooh, it's just like a bloodbath in here today..."

Little kids get hurt. Often. It's just a fact of the stage we're in. They don't yet have a good grip on things like balance. Posture. Restraint. The door handle. Let's face it, they're just walking menaces {if that}. Proven anew by the fresh shiner Sydney's sporting under her eye, suffered when a spirited romp around her room this morning ended with a spill into a precariously tipped puzzle piece.

And this is just the latest in a string of mishaps. Also taking place in the Coleman household as of late:
  • Elijah hauled off and bit Sydney. On the face. I think he was as surprised as she was - he was just trying to love on her. Well, he loved some good toddler-sized teeth marks right onto the meaty part of her cheek, and the teary, indignant Sydney and I got to have a talk about how little her brother understands of his own actions and how forgiveness is a nice thing.
  • Seconds before I would have swooped him up to put him down for the night, Elijah tripped on his own pants, did a face-plant onto the hardwood floor, and experienced his first bloody nose. He wasn't a fan. Neither, I'll say, was I. Your own child's blood is never a pleasant last sight before bedtime.
  • The latest run of head colds turned into the dreaded Sydney fevers once again, and Friday morning she had another febrile seizure, albeit a mini one...only 15 seconds or so. We're currently on day 5 of higher than normal temps, so hopefully it's nearly run its course. She topped out around 106...scary, but can you tell we're getting more used to these?

I just counted 15 seconds in my head. It seemed like forever. Take care over there.

Isn't parenting fun? We had a stranger at our front door last week holding Charlie and asking if he was ours, he had walked 5 houses down the street to play with the boys playing basketball. Each of us thought he was with the other!
Hang in there, call if you ever need anything.

The day after I posted this, I was in the ER all day with Sydney trying to diagnose the source of her continuing high fevers. The day after THAT, Elijah fell down the stairs. Both kids are fine, but I'm surprised CPS hasn't yet knocked on our door.
