Biker chick

Later on Saturday, we had all the family over for our own little party. Sydney's big present this year was her own big girl bike and helmet (thank you, Papa and Tutu!) She has been talking about this for MONTHS. Every time we've seen a bike anywhere - on our block, at the library, in a store - she's been like, oh there's my bike, I have to ride it. Now she actually has one. And loving it. She took it right out and rode back and forth in front of the house about forty times.

After having all the family around all weekend, her birthday itself was very quiet: just the four of us. The dinner choice was not a hard one to make; it's no secret that we love us some good Benihana.

Having grown accustomed over the weekend to all the fuss over her, Sydney kept craning her neck to look around the restaurant, asking, "Where's my birthday?" Of course, it finally did arrive in the form of the birthday buddha candle and six Japanese waitstaff singing to her. Though she did look rather blankly at them, not recognizing their traditional Japanese birthday song. =)

By the way, Sydney's 3-year-old stats at her check-up were:

Height: 40 1/2 inches (98th percentile)

Weight: 34 1/2 lbs (82nd percentile)

BP 96/62

Happy birthday to our big girl!
