A whirlwind weekend in Washington

With several commitments inside just one weekend, we took a few extra days and decided to make the most of our first road trip in quite a while:

First stop was Wenatchee to visit the Hunters. We stayed with them for two days, including a quick trip to Leavenworth, where I'd never been. Mainly, we just let the kids be their silly selves together. Noah and Sydney literally had to be hosed off after this dip in the sandbox.

Then on to Olympia, where we met up at our favorite Chinese restaurant, the Tea Leaf 2, for lunch with Drew's parents, Uncle Steven and Aunt Kate, and cousin Heidi. After checking into our hotel in Olympia, they graciously hosted us at their home for a delicious dinner and a tour of the most incredible home garden I have ever seen. These people are serious about growing food. I've never seen that many varieties of garlic in one place, even at the grocery store. Very cool.

Despite my nerves about all four of us in one hotel room, Sydney did pretty great for her first time in her own big hotel bed. The next day, we did a caravan up to Seattle for Drew's cousin Dana's graduation party from the University of Washington. Proud of her and her new degree in political science!

Drew and I only had about an hour there before we had to rush back down to Olympia for the wedding of his college buddy, Jordan. We had a great time reconnecting with so many of our college friends at once!

The next morning, we did Fathers' Day brunch with Drew's family. Then Sydney snuck in a quick swim with Daddy in the hotel pool before the drive home. How fantastic is this shot?

Back in Portland, we joined my family for a Fathers' Day dinner that evening before collapsing into bed. A lot of driving, but a lot of fun times with a lot of loved ones, too!
